My favorite little things in 2016
"How in the world did we get here so fast?" I have heard that sentence so many times while at the post office and in the grocery store the past several weeks. Everyone I meet seems to be shocked that the end of 2016 is nearly here. And I must agree, this year seems to have flown by.
But despite the quick passing of time, I made it a point to notice as many little things as possible. We love celebrating little things in our family and this year was no different. Here are some of my favorites from 2016.

- Early this fall, a small random act of kindness ended up being a huge blessing in our lives and helped us remember why kindness still matters. Little gestures of goodwill can go a really long way. We hosted an Instagram giveaway to pay this kindness forward and it was wonderful to read all of your comments on how a kind act from another person affected your life.
- Earlier this year, I recall seeing a stranger help a woman carry a heavy package to her car -- such a tiny act of helping one another. She appeared stunned as I heard her thank the stranger over and over again. I used this incident to teach our son that we don't always have to "know" each other to show kindness.
- And last but not least, this spring, our son with special needs put himself in charge(instead of being a helper) of prepping the "shipping area" where we package up your orders and get them ready for delivery to the post office. From that day forward, he continues to be diligent in his tasks of making sure that all is in order for the day's shipments (labels, tape, boxes, etc.). These little strides in independence are some of the best memories of this year.
It is our hope that by sharing these little things with you, that you will take the time to slow down and celebrate your own small victories and life experiences.
