It would be easy for me to tell you that I woke up one day and decided to make a great body oil.

It wasn’t that easy.  :)

What did come easy was the decision to change the way we took care of our son’s skin many years ago. Although it was a bumpy road, finally making the decision was much like drawing a line in the sand. It just happened.

My mindset and approach to life has always been to figure out how to “fix” things. In my early days of making products, I took what science had taught me about our skin and blended that with the experience of our son reacting negatively to many of the typical moisturizers on the market. Those early years quickly became an undoing of everything I knew to be true about how we take care of our bodies. I was on a mission to create something.

I experimented with clean, natural ingredients with the goal of making things to replace most of the conventional products in our home. Those were wonderful times despite the pressure to give up and just go the easy route. I couldn’t learn fast enough and I was always eager to share my latest “product” with those close to me.

Today, it’s about more than just making products. As a family, we have embraced “slow living” in large part because of our son with special needs. We get excited about silly things and smile often realizing that every moment is a gift. A simple ritual like taking care of your loved one’s skin can help you slow down and appreciate real human connection in this fast moving digital world. My hope is that you will notice the little things and surround yourself with people that lift you up and bring you joy.

In the coming weeks, I will be sharing more about how our philosophy and mission at Rachel’s Plan Bee has evolved, the benefits of slow intentional living and why we should never stop learning.

Whether you are at the beginning of your journey in finding cleaner and greener alternatives to your skin care routine or you have been on this path for years, I would love to hear your story. What you think matters to me. Share your thoughts in the comments section.

Love,
Rachel
