Sometimes life takes us on an unknown path or into a new situation that can be both exciting and scary. Many times we are pushed to navigate new territory without directions or a map. It’s like boarding a plane thinking that you are headed to the beach and instead you land in the middle of a blizzard. What’s up with that?
I believe there is a good reason that those things “happen” to us. When I was in college, we used the scientific method in class to learn more about the world around us. We were taught to question what we see, observe and gather data, predict the outcome, conduct the experiment and discuss the results. In life, we unknowingly apply this method in our every day experiences, but especially when things don’t seem to go as planned.
We all have experiences or travels that we look back on and wonder, “How did I ever get through that”? The power of intuition and knowing that “I've done difficult things before and I can do this” are what help us push forward.
Unexpected circumstances have taken our family on some pretty bumpy rides. But life happens and we choose to honor the past, celebrate the present and be hopeful for the future with a true appreciation for all the little things.
So whether you are on the beach, in a snowstorm or going thru the motions on an ordinary day, don’t forget to stop, look around and take notes. Don’t miss celebrating the little things that may one day be remembered as the best things.
What experiences have made you stronger and more able to push through unexpected bumps in the road? How do you and your loved ones celebrate important moments or milestones? Send me an email. I would love to hear your story.
